What to Expect in a Somatic Sex Education Session:

A Somatic Sex Education session is structured to create a safe and consensual container for exploration. Here is an overview of what to expect:

  1. Setting Intentions: We will begin by discussing your intentions and desires for the session. This includes establishing boundaries and addressing any hesitations or concerns you may have.

  2. Professional Ethics: As a practitioner, I adhere to the ethical guidelines set forth by the Somatic Sex Educators Association.

  3. This is a great checklist for working with a Somatic Sex Educator on the website of the Somatic Sex Educators Association.

  4. It’s important to think about what your support system is whilst doing this work, both inner and outer. Can you talk to somebody about this work?

My approach prioritizes a slow and mindful engagement with your sexuality and sensuality, creating a safe space for nervous system regulation and deep, meaningful exploration.  This deliberate pacing allows us to tune into your unique experiences and comfort levels, fostering an environment where change and growth can occur organically. Whether our sessions are online, focus on one-way touch, or incorporate somatic exercises, the goal is to engage with your body in a way that honors its pace,  which may be operating at a slower speed than your thoughts. A lot of experiences in sexuality and cultivating sexual intimacy are often hurried, and discomfort and questions are not given the time and space they require. This is a space to practise these possibilities in.

Working together, I will encourage you to listen to your body, understanding that erotic sensation, pleasure, and sexuality emanate from within, rather than external stimuli, which can create distance from authentic erotic expression. Many of us have learned about sexuality through such external sources, which can lead to using sexuality only as a means of self-soothing or tension release. My work aims to bring this back to the body, exploring the vast possibilities for pleasure and expression when we feel safe to inhabit our entire beings.

The journey towards embracing your whole self, including your genitals and eros, in a safe and affirming way, is at the heart of somatic sex education. It involves knowing your desires, communicating them without fear or expectation, and understanding intimacy in its truest form. This is the fulcrum of this work that I love and have learned so much about with all the amazing folks that come to me as clients.

This is a process that takes time and requires commitment. Many clients start with online sessions before transitioning to in-person work, or they may attend massage therapy sessions as an easing into a more in-depth exploration. Whatever your path, it is tailored to your needs, respecting your pace and the unique journey you are on.

Modalities and Concepts

Receiving (for bodywork)

The focus will primarily be on you receiving touch. Various forms of receiving can be explored, including verbal guidance, movement, breath, and sound.

We will ensure that the touch remains within your comfort zone and is not experienced as "enduring touch," where your full consent is not present.

Body mapping

This practice involves tuning into your body's sensations, exploring what you can feel and developing a language to both speak about it and guide the exploration.

You are encouraged to voice your preferences and experiment with different types of touch. Body mapping serves as a pathway to reconnecting with your entire body, developing new neural pathways, and deepening bodily awareness.

Intimacy Accompaniment

These sessions are for folks that haven’t received a lot of touch in their lives and are looking for on on one guidance and support. Intimacy accompaniment focuses on platonic touch, cuddling, and exploring boundaries. These sessions provide a safe and supportive space for enhancing confidence and skill-building in all relationships. Please note that there is no genital touch, kissing, or any form of fluid exchange. These sessions are not sensual or erotic in nature. We are both clothed.

All genders are welcome.

When we work together like this, I don’t mix it with any of my other types of work. The possibility of coming from Somatic Sex Education sessions, or going into Somatic Sex Education sessions happens at my discretion and the pace of learning and ability to adjust to dynamic changes in our therapist/client relationship.

Genital mapping and dearmouring

This practice, typically introduced after a few sessions, offers an opportunity to explore the entire genital area.

It is guided by you, allowing you to breathe, move, or remain still according to your comfort level. This process honors your body, sensations, and pace, helping integrate the experience throughout the whole body.

It is a space to acknowledge and explore various sensations, including pleasure, pain, numbness, shame, grief, and joy.

Online Sessions

In online sessions, we delve into exploring your own self-practice and learning around self touch. This can be felt as very supportive and might include being witnessed, guided touch, self-dearmoring, genital mapping, and unraveling shame. This practice aims to cultivate embodiment, sexual autonomy, deepen pleasure, and unravel deep-rooted patterns and emotions. It is a journey of self-discovery and healing, navigating shame, and working through trauma held in the body

When we work with our erotic selves, we are often working with deep patterns of shame, relational patterns that don’t serve us, and unwinding trauma held in the body. This takes time, care, patience, and attention. Considering a series of sessions that can be a mixture of online, as well as in-person, can be a powerful way to develop trust, and work with your intentions as fully as we can: together.

I am based in Montréal. Please feel free to reach out to ask questions or book a session .

Does this feel like a lot?

Embarking on this work at a pace that feels comfortable to you is a beautiful way to engage with this modality. Building trust and establishing a nurturing environment are vital aspects of the journey.

Massage Session:

If you want to find a gentle and embodied way to develop therapeutic connection and trust, I offer massage sessions. The prices for these sessions are $120 for 1 hour and $150 for 90 minutes. Please see my Massage Therapy page for more information.

For clarity

  • I remain clothed throughout our sessions.

  • It is important to clarify that for all bodywork, it is one-way touch, with me touching you.

  • There is no fluid exchange (for example: I don’t use my mouth).

Because I get asked: It is important to note that I do not engage in dating, or offer reciprocal erotic exchange with clients.

This work functions as a transformative container for learning, healing, and opening up. The invitation is to bring this work fully into your life, fostering profound connections with yourself and others. It is designed to create a safe space where healing can take place, shame can be separated from sexuality, and a path towards embodied erotic liberation can unfold.

Integration and Self-Care:

After a session, it is important to take care of yourself with gentleness and kindness. Drink water, eat nourishing food, and be prepared for emotional or energetic releases, which can manifest as laughter, tears, tremoring, and simply being tired, amongst other things. Please be gentle with yourself during the integration process, as deep change often occurs during this time.

In closing, my spaces of facilitation are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment for radical self-acceptance and self-love.

I invite you to take a step towards your journey of healing, decoupling shame from sexuality, and experiencing embodied erotic liberation.

“I want to thank Racheal for welcoming me in a tailor-made Reclaiming Eros private retreat! Thank you dear Racheal for your heart, loving hands, and amazing set of skills including (but not limited to!) such a deep reverence for humans, a great listening and atunement capacity, a calm presence, a sense of wonder for the body, a curiosity for pleasure, lots of playfulness and humor, not to mention your yummy cooking! Thanks for accepting the challenge of a deep dive, and being adventurous enough to say Yes to my request of 5 sessions over 3 days! It was amazing, nurturing, healing, empowering. As you said: "it is a sacred, brave and important work that we do."
